Khumbu Pasanglamu Municipality of Solukhumbu has suspended flights at Lukla Airport indefinitely.
Stating that the coronavirus infection has increased recently, the village municipality has written a letter to all helicopter companies, Tara, Summit and Sita Airlines urging them not to bring tourists to Lukla indefinitely from October 22.
Chief Administrative Officer of the village municipality Binod Bhattarai has mentioned in the letter that only permanent residents of the village municipality, civil servants and teachers will be allowed to enter.
According to the village municipality, hotels and lodges in the municipality have also been closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Residents, teachers and staff of the village municipality should have received a negative PCR report within 72 hours of coming to the village.
One case of coronavirus infection was reported in Namche Bazar today. With the detection of the infection in a person, certain areas in the little town have been sealed.
Meanwhile, a team of doctors will be dispatched to Namche Bazar tomorrow to collect mass samples for testing, Chairperson of Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee Ang Dorje Sherpa informed.
