11 August, Chitwan. A rhinoceros died on Tuesday after being swept away by the Rapti River. The rhino was found dead in the river near Andrauli Ghat in the western part of the park.
According to Rishi Ranabhat, Assistant Conservation Officer of Chitwan National Park, a 15-20-year-old female rhino was found dead in the river.
According to Ranabhat, rhinos have been spotted in the Rapti River near Meghauli. According to him, preparations have been made to bring out the rhinos in the river and test them.
Earlier, 13 rhinos were rescued due to the floods in 2074 BS. A rhinoceros that reached India only this month has been rescued on the pretext of coming to Nepal.
At that time, many people were killed by the floods of Rapti and Narayani rivers. This is the first time a rhino has died of natural causes this year. In the last fiscal year, 26 rhinos died due to natural causes in parks and national forests. Of these, rhinos have died in 24 park areas and two forest areas.
