August 6, The famous Nilbarahi dance of Bhaktapur has started. It starts the day after the Gaijatra festival. This dance is celebrated for four days and four nights in Bode of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality. This dance festival is a big dance festival after the Tongue piercing and Bisket Jatra festival.
In this dance festival Bhairav, Nilbarahi, Kumari, Singh, Dwarpal, Kshetrapal and Ganesh dance.
After the dance is taken out from the main door, it is performed around the temples in different communities. During the dance, the devas do not eat anything, do not talk to anyone and do not sit anywhere.
While the deities wearing the mask of the deity are dancing, the worshipers from house to house worship them.
The locals believe that the dance was started in Madhyapur Thimi during the Mallakalin period to get rid of the sufferings of ghosts, vampires and other demon-possessed souls right the day after Gai Jatra.
