The number of tourists visiting Hanumandhoka Durbar Square has started increasing gradually after eight months. Domestic and foreign tourists have started visiting Hanumandhoka Durbar Square after the area reopened for visitors.
Hanumandhoka Durbar Square had been completely closed since the third week of March due to the coronavirus infection. Now, as many as 100 visitors visit Hanumandhoka Durbar Square on a daily basis. The number of foreign tourists visiting the area is fewer compared to domestic ones.
Sandeep Khanal, chief of Hanumandhoka Durbar Square Management Office, said the number of people visiting Hanumandhoka Durbar Square was increasing day by day.
Hanumandhoka Durbar Square reopened on November 18.
Hanumandhoka Durbar Square used to collect around Rs 120 million annually from entry fees. The office has determined rupees 100 for each foreign visitor and Rs 30 for Nepali citizens as an entry fee.
Reconstruction of historical heritages damaged by the Gorkha earthquake is being carried out in the Basantapur area. The architecture of the Rana and Malla periods is the main attraction of the Basantapur area.
Similarly, preparation has been made to open Gaddi Baithak for visitors.
The Gaddhi Baithak is the chamber where the enthronement of the then kings used to take place. Reconstruction of Gaddi Baithak damaged by the earthquake has already been carried out.
