Hotels resuming their service from July 30

KATHMANDU, July 29: Hotels, which has been stalled for about four months due to the lockdown, is being started by mobilizing the necessary manpower and health care from 30 July. Entrepreneurs are now preparing for the operation of hotel after the government decided to bring the Hotels into operation.

Entrepreneurs are preparing for the operation in the hope that hotel can be supported by domestic tourism and foreign tourists will gradually come with the opening of international flights. Binayak Shah, first Vice-President of the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), said that initially only 10 percent of the full capacity hotel business would be operated and the capacity would be gradually increased depending on the situation.
He said that HAN was planning to make various attractive packages with the expectation of promoting domestic tourism through the ‘Visit Nepal’ program as announced by the government in the budget. Entrepreneurs expect that it would be appropriate to set up a PCR center at the airport. He also said that the tourism business would return to normal soon if plans like on arrival entry permit were introduced.


Shah estimates that the hotel business will gradually become easier as domestic and international commercial flights will start from August 17. Also, hoteliers are practicing safety measures to ensure safe operation. Entrepreneurs have said that the service will be operated on the basis of the health protocol prepared by the World Health Organization, Government of Nepal and the hotel.
