The touristic town of Sauraha in Chitwan is hosting the Elephant Festival from December 26. This is the 16th edition of the event organised almost every year by the end of December.The six-day event aims to encourage tourists to spend more time in Nepal in view of the Visit Nepal Year 2020, says the festival organizer, Regional Hotel Association, Sauraha.
According to Deepak Bhattarai, the Association chair, elephant football, elephant polo, elephant fast walks, elephant beauty peasant and picnic for elephants will be parts of the festival. Bhaghmara Ground in Sauraha will be the venue for the festival which will have 50 stalls altogether relating to touristic stuff, several verities of food and handicraft items.
Nepal Communist Party executive chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal is scheduled to inaugurate the festival.
