The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has planned to organize ‘Visit Nepal Year’ in 2020 . Its Main aim is to attract more tourists to the country. The government has set a target to bring in two million tourists by the targeted year.
The federal republic of Nepal has set determined plans to operate two new International Airports in Pokhara and Lumbini. These Two New airports have almost finished their work and will be operate soon. Gautam Buddha International Airport in Lumbini and Pokhara International Airport in Pokhara . Pokhara International Airport is an under construction airport in Pokhara, Gandaki Pradesh of Nepal. It is 3 km east from the existing domestic airport, at Chinnedanda. The construction of the airport started in April, 2016. With the addition of Nepal national flagship a new Airbus 330-220 to serve a large number of tourists. The government also plans to run Tribhuvan International Airport for additional 3 hours from regular 18 hours to ensure the availability of services for incoming and departing tourists.
The private sector has also shown its eagerness in making 2020 a successful year. The private hotel sector plans to add 4000 new rooms in four and five-star category in hot spots like Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Chitwan.
