Chitwan, 17 January 2021: A ‘selfie point’ has been set up to take pictures of the tourists visiting Sauraha. Entrepreneurs have started promoting domestic tourism after foreign tourists stopped coming due to the pandemic of coronavirus infection.
Entrepreneurs have added various activities to provide maximum entertainment to the tourists along with the ‘let’s visit Sauraha’ campaign. A ‘selfie point’ has been set up to take pictures of the tourists visiting Sauraha. A selfie point has been set up on the premises of the Sunset View Restaurant on the bank of Rapti River. The selfie point has started attracting everyone who reaches there. Among the internal and external tourists, young and old alike have been going to selfie points to take photos.
‘Sauraha’ is attractively written on the back and the ‘park’ is seen in the background at Selfie Point. Even though it was built with a small investment, tourists have been waiting for their turn to take pictures. Dipendra Khatiwada, president of Restaurant and Bar Association, Sauraha, said that some tourists come only to take photos.

He said that the point, which was set up in the 2nd week of November, has now developed as the identity of Sauraha. According to him, now around 300 tourists take photos at the selfie point daily. He said, “We have been able to introduce Sauraha to the world because of the selfie point.” Entrepreneurs have said that this point, which has been established with a small investment, has increased the tourist attraction.
Suman Ghimire, former president of the Regional Hotel Association Sauraha, said that he had made the tourists come here once. He said, “It has made the tourists feel that they have come to Sauraha.” Local journalist Homnath Sapkota said that it has helped in the development of tourism. “This has become a new dimension for the tourism sector,” he said.
Entrepreneurs have said that the business, which was facing a crisis during the Corona disaster, is now in a state of improvement. According to Ghimire, the number of tourists visiting Sauraha has reached 600 daily. There are more than 1,500 tourists who come only for sightseeing. (RSS)
