The government of Nepal has developed an online system for tracking tourists to monitor tourists visiting Nepal.
Surendra Thapa, director of the tourism department, said that an online tracking system has been developed and successfully tested. “We have developed a system to monitor tourists visiting Nepal at the time of the outbreak of the coronavirus,” he said. “It has been successfully tested.”
Especially after the tourist check-in at the hotel from the airport, the department has been able to monitor every activity he does through online medium through its mechanism.
It will find out where the tourist goes, which hotel he stays in, which footpath he is on. According to Director Thapa, this will increase the security of the tourists themselves and the government will be able to easily find the necessary information about the tourists.
In the early stages of the coronavirus infection, there was a risk of corona coming from tourists on board. That is why the need for such a system was felt.
According to an official of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the system will be continued in the coming days.
It will also help the ministry to keep accurate statistics about tourists. According to the Ministry, the concerned businessmen have been invited to join the online tracking system designed to get the details of foreign tourists staying in hotels, lodges, and resorts.
Tracking System Tested on 35 people
According to the Department of Tourism, 35 tourists were monitored using this system. It had successful results.
After the government announced a lockdown on April 26, the system is no longer in operation as tourists from different places have to be sent back to their home countries.
According to the department, the system of the department is connected with hotels, booths for buying team cards, and the body where tourists have to give their details.
As a result, a tourist with a passport number goes to the place where he checks in and finds out that the tourist has reached there. It is said that it will help in tracing the travel history, monitoring possible negative activities, and even rescuing tourists in case of emergency. Monitoring of tourists during times like natural calamities and snowfall helps in enhancing their safety.
Developing an online tourist record app
Meanwhile, an integrated computer application has also been developed to keep integrated statistics of all tourists visiting Nepal. The application is currently being tested, the ministry said.
The ministry has also collaborated with the immigration department in developing such an application.
According to the ministry, it will receive complete details from foreign tourists through the same mechanism. The Immigration Department keeps details of tourists coming to and leaving Nepal.
