A team including members of Bahrain’s royal family has successfully climbed the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. The team reached the summit of Everest at 6.40 am on Tuesday, said Mira Acharya, director of the tourism department.

This is the first international expedition team to conquer the new altitude (8848.86m) of Mt. Everest. The Bahraini team consisting of 17 team members had arrived in Nepal on 15 March to scale Mt Everest.

Earlier to this, the rope fixing team of Seven Summit Treks led by the world-famous Everest climber Kami Rita Sherpa had reached the peak of Mt Everest and broke his own world record and created a new world record of having scaled Mt Everest for the 25th times.

The Bahrain Prince Khalifa’s team was led by Lakpa Sherpa of Seven Summit Treks during the expedition. Lakpa Sherpa is also another world record holder in climbing Mt Everest without using oxygen at the age of 19 years.
