KATHMANDU, July 19: The second edition of ‘Mount Everest Fashion Runway’, the highest fashion show in the world, is to be organized with the promotion of the Nepal Tourism Board. The show, which will be attended by celebrity models from different countries of the world including Nepal, will be held on September 22, 2021, in Everest (Sagarmatha) Kalapathar area.
The organizers have informed that the program will be organized in collaboration with K Films and ME Two Films. The first edition of Fashion Runway was organized in January 2019. The event won the Guinness Book of World Records. The organizers plan to record the event in the Guinness Book of World Records this year as well. In addition to the program, 200 participants will also personally set a world record.
In a press conference organized in Kathmandu on Monday to give information about the program, the Executive Chief of the Tourism Board, Dr. Dhananjay Regmi said that the program would add a new dimension to Nepal’s tourism in the context of separate plans put forward by the board for the promotion of tourism in Nepal’s mountains, hills and terai.
Stating that the world community understands Nepal as a seasonal tourist destination, he said that the program to be organized in September would convey the message that Nepal is a tourist destination for all age groups and all seasons. He informed that the board would continue other promotion works as soon as the situation eases as tourism activities could not take place due to Covid.
Speaking on the occasion, Ratna Raj Bajracharya, CEO of Global IME Bank, said that such programs would further help in introducing Nepal’s tourism to the international community. Pankaj K Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of K Films, said that the event, which will be held at the highest point in the world, has embraced the concept of sustainable tourism and will attract the attention of the world.

The program will be directed by Shruti Anandita Verma and Amitabh S Verma, and reality show directors of MW Two Films, India. Both of them said that they were happy to direct the program to be held in the lap of the world’s tallest Mount Everest and its lap, adding that it would help in the promotion of adventure tourism in Nepal. Ramila Nemkul, the fashion designer of the company, said that this event is the pride of Nepal and it will feature original Nepali clothes as per the need. Similarly, the CFO of the company Riken Maharjan informed that they are planning to organize such a program for sustainable tourism.
