KATHMANDU, MAY 17
As many as 10 tourists who were stranded in Manang district following the government-imposed nationwide lockdown owing to the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, have been rescued, informed the District Administration Office (DAO).
According to the DAO, the process is underway to rescue the remaining 12 stranded tourists from the district.
Among the rescued tourists, five of them who were stranded at Dingsyang Rural Municipality were airlifted to Kathmandu and five were sent to Pokhara on a jeep, said Chief of the Annapurna Conservation Area, Lekhnath Gautam.
Fourteen of the tourists were stranded at Dingsyang Rural Municipality, four at Khangsar Tilicho Base Camp, three at Dabolagaun, and one at Pisang. The stranded tourists are from Germany, Israel, Netherlands, Ireland, and France.
“Some of the stranded foreign visitors were airlifted to Kathmandu and others were transported to Pokhara yesterday. One or two tourists have headed to Lamjung district by foot,” Gautam shared. Source:Rastriya Samachar Samiti
