Pashupatinath to be gold-plated

The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) is planning to bring sparkle to the Pashupatinath temple by using gold. The trust is planning to make the jalahari by using gold.

According to PADT Member Secretary Pradeep Dhakal, the roof of the temple and Basaha in the front of the temple are also being gold-plated. The PADT has estimated that it will take 142 kg gold for plating the temple roof and constructing the Jalahari.

He said officials had estimated that 108 kg gold would be required for making the jalahari and the remaining gold would be used for the roof and Basaha.

According to Dhakal, they will complete the task by this Akshaya Tritiya, the establishment day of the PADT. He further said that the total cost for the task was estimated at Rs 1 billion and of the total budget the PADT would spend Rs 650 million and the remaining other amounts would be provided by the government.

Dr. Dhakal further said that the trust would soon organize a press meet to share the details of the preparations.

After worshipping at Pashupatinath temple last Monday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had directed the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhanubhakta Dhakal to allocate Rs 300 million to gold-plate the temple. RSS
