Bhimeswor municipality has built a hiking route from Brindaban to Sahityik Park in the Jilu area by mobilizing public money of over Rs 2.06 million under the Prime Minister Employment Programme. The route was built to ease trekking from Brindaban to Sahityik Park and side by side offer an opportunity to trekkers to observe the scenic beauty of Gaurishanker hill, Tamakoshi River and mountains of Shailung and Hanumante.
The one-kilometre route has become an appropriate destination for domestic and foreign tourists for the morning walks. The infrastructure is expected to contribute to strengthening the economic situation of the local people. Spokesperson of the municipality and ward no. 4 chairperson Haribansha Chaulagain shared that the municipality has invested over Rs 2 million out of Rs 5.17 million earmarked for a project under the Prime Minister Self-Employment Programme. The employment coordinator of the municipality, Dambar Oli informed that the trekking route was constructed to create employment opportunities by attracting tourists. “We are constructing stone-paved steps along the trekking route under the leadership of domestic tourists”, said Tilak Sapkota, a worker.
